When exactly the underworld was invented is lost in the dark of history. One thing is clear, however: The myths surrounding it are not for the faint-hearted. And yet, there are heroes and daredevils who set out into a new world that will remain forever hidden from most people. There, they experience a mystical mix of theater, music, culinary delights, tours, and lectures in cellars and catacombs, tunnels and basements, excavations, garages, and crypts. But beware: Even though hellhounds and gods of the dead seem to have retired in the "Trier Underworlds," you must bring a little curiosity and a sense of adventure.
For the Long Night, the gates to the underworld will open throughout the city center starting at 16:30. On various routes, you'll visit two locations each with a selected program and then unwind in one of the Open Cellars afterward – a special free drink included!
But that’s not all: Your respective route ticket also grants you access to the other Open Cellars, provided that the maximum number of visitors has not been reached. But don’t worry: With a little patience, you too can sniff the cellar air there once the guest density has eased up a bit.
All little explorers will get their money's worth on a special children's route.
Details about the Long Night of the Underworlds can be found at trierer-unterwelten.de/lange-nacht, where you can also find the detailed program of the Trier Underworlds Festival.
