At the temple festival in the Roman temple complex of Tawern, the ancient cult site comes alive for a day. The Roman group “Familia Poppaea,” representing a family in the emperor's retinue, sets up camp with their stylish, Roman-furnished tents of self-production on the Metzenberg and shows how the Romans lived. A festival for young and old. Children will also have fun, and through playful means, they can experience the life of the ancient Romans. In the temple precinct, where the Romans already ate and drank wine, you will also have the opportunity to taste Roman dishes, and local producers will provide wine and beer. A shuttle service runs from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., bringing pedestrians from Tawern to the temple and back to the foot of the Metzenberg.
