Corpus Christi at Lake Hallstatt

When all the residents of Hallstatt decorate their "Fuhren," the traditional boats on the lake, with foliage and flowers, and the entire town puts on its festive attire, then it is Corpus Christi. The Jesuits once introduced the magnificent procession in Hallstatt. Because the small salt town had so little space on land, the procession was once moved to the lake with boats and salt ships, not least to get a glimpse of the salt mountain, the millennia-old workplace of the Hallstatt people.

Procession Schedule:
Start: 09:00 AM High Mass at the Catholic Parish Church
09:45 AM: Blessing Station at the Market Square
From 10:30 AM: Start of the Lake Procession
Back on land around 11:30 AM - Final blessing at the Market Square with a ceremonial Te Deum
Catholic Mass in the church from 12:00 PM

Ships and Boats:

You have the opportunity to participate in the lake procession either on the shore or directly on the lake, by taking a round-trip boat. Departure at 10:15 AM from Hallstatt Market/Central! However, it is advisable to arrive early at the boat dock to secure a spot. The ticket counters open at 08:45 AM at Hallstatt Market/Central.
