The spectacular set design comes to life through the impressive, three-dimensional video projections by the internationally celebrated multimedia artist Daniel Stryjecki and the grand stage elements built by Michael Scott of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.

Over the years, it has been continually revised with new elements. The dramatic fall of the chandelier, the mysterious rendezvous between Christine and Raoul on the roof of the opera, the underground boat ride, the eerie encounter in the cemetery, and the terrifying underworld of the opera are portrayed so vividly that the set design has often been described by the press as one of the main characters of the musical.

Since 2010, "The Phantom of the Opera" by the author team Deborah Sasson and Jochen Sautter has captivated audiences on over 500 stages across Europe. This musical reinterpretation, which originated for the 100th anniversary of the novel "Le Fantôme de l’Opéra" written by Gaston Leroux in 1910, has become one of the most successful touring musicals in Europe. The production stands out from all previous musical interpretations of the literary material by adhering more closely to the original novel and incorporating well-known operatic quotes in parts of the music composed by Sasson. Christine is torn between two fascinating men: her mysterious mentor, the Phantom of the Opera, and her youthful love, the wealthy and attractive Count Raoul.

As in previous seasons, the main characters will also be interpreted by musical stars from German and international stages in the 2023/24 season. In addition, a large ensemble of selected singers, dancers, and actors from the German-speaking region will participate in this grand stage show. A true musical highlight!
