Sergey Malov, who hails from St. Petersburg, plays violin, baroque violin, viola, and violoncello da spalla – the instrument on which Bach likely performed his cello suites himself – as well as clavichord. He has won awards on the violin at the Paganini Competition in Genoa, the Mozart Competition in Salzburg, the Heifetz Competition in Vilnius, and the Michael Hill Competition in Auckland. As a violist, he was a prizewinner of the ARD Competition and the Tokyo Viola Competition. With stylistic depth and captivating stage presence, Sergey Malov delights every audience.
