Eine Reise in die Oberweseler Klosterwelt

Immerse yourself in the history of the Oberwesel Franciscan Monastery. Here, you will experience a fascinating 3D-based film about the life of the Oberwesel brothers within the monastery walls - but also in coexistence with the citizens of Oberwesel.

You will receive virtual insights into the former monastery buildings with their equipment, and last but not least, the doors to the monastery church "Holy Cross" will open for the first time, through which you can admire the baroque furnishings from that time. This uniquely staged journey through the monastery area with its facilities awaits you in the refectory.

But before that, you will explore the monastery grounds in a very real way: Via the Penitential Alley, you will head to the monastery garden with its impressive church ruin, where you will learn about the history of the founding of the monastery and the use of the garden then and now. Other stops include the sacristy and the choir of the monastery church.

In the refectory, a glass of wine awaits you along with the new, technically sophisticated film production (duration approx. 18 min.) that will immerse you in the year 1780 with all your senses. Experience the world of the Oberwesel monastery!

Duration of the event: approx. 90 min.

The meeting point is at the large information sign, corner of Oberstraße / "Im Kloster" street.
