The Orange City of Dillenburg in the Hands of Children on 20.06.2026

Children's Day has been one of the most popular events in Dillenburg for 27 years. On Saturday, June 20, it will finally be time again: “Children's Day and Duck Race” in the Orange City of Dillenburg invites everyone to participate, try things out, and have fun! From 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., Barbara Thomas and Susanne Weiser from the AG Dillenburger Kaufleute in the Förderkreis Dillenburg e.V. will transform the entire downtown area of Dillenburg into a huge adventure playground.

Children can let loose on bouncy castles, a rolling slide, a vehicle course, the Bobby-Car, tread-lorry and kart track of the THW in the Wickbrücke area, or tackle the Wipe-Out on Wilhelmsplatz. The Friends of the Wild Park Donsbach and the Dillenburg football clubs (SSV Dillenburg, TG Dillenburg, FC Dillenburg) will introduce themselves and have prepared a lot for the children! Professionals will face paint little lions, fairies, and pirates or apply colorful streaks in their hair. Additionally, there will be a foosball table and a photo booth. The DRK Dillenburg will present First Aid for children with Teddy Todd at the hut square. The Dillenburg Golf Club and the Dillenburg Gymnastics Club will also be involved with participation activities.
On the show stage, the children's choir “Sun Rays for Jesus” will sing, and the blue sparks of CVO Oberscheld, as well as the dance group Maxi Moves from Nanzenbach, will delight with their performances.

A highlight will be the bubble-making activity with “Bubble Magic” in Marktstraße.

At 1.30 p.m., the ducks of Round Table 57 Dillenburg will be released into the water for the popular duck race at the Obertor Bridge. At 2.30 p.m., the winners of the duck race will be announced on stage in Marktstraße. Betting slips for the duck race can be purchased at advance sales locations and on-site during Children's Day.

Children's Flea Market

Throughout the entire downtown area, there will be a flea market from children for children, just like in previous years. Of course, no stand fee will be charged for the youngest sellers. On the day of the event, interested flea market vendors can call the organizers at 02771-896156 to inquire about the best spots.

Food and drinks will also be well provided!

The organizers from AG Dillenburger Kaufleute are pleased that so many people are engaged for children again this year: vendors, clubs, kindergartens, service clubs, and many others have put together a great, varied program – ALL participation stations cost NO money.

Without the support of the Orange City of Dillenburg and the generous sponsors (Welker Dachtechnik, Ladies Circle, VR Bank Lahn-Dill eG, Sparkasse Dillenburg, WK-walldecor, Apotheke am Postamt, Druckerei Manderbach), this year's Children's Day would not be possible.
