Vibrant customs in Gimmeldingen: If that’s not a reason to celebrate! In 1798, the "Zehnte," the natural tax, a mandatory levy of one-tenth of the wine pressed by the winemakers to the Elector or noble lord, was abolished, and even today, this inspires the Loblocher theater group to present a historical scene in front of the Nikolauskapelle. Furthermore, it also serves as a reminder that there once existed an independent municipality around Kurpfalzstraße and Loblocher Straße. Long ago, Lobloch merged into Gimmeldingen, but the memory of the place first mentioned in 1217 remains alive year after year, especially with the wine festival since 1976.
