Winter Hike

Directly below the Schönecker Burgberg, our fluffy llamas and alpacas live, who are definitely better equipped for a hike in winter than we humans. Here also starts our very special winter experience: The Alpaca and Llama Winter Hike.

After getting acquainted with our four-legged tour companions, we are off. We hike through the wintry Eifel landscape, enjoying the fresh air and the tranquility that our llamas and alpacas radiate. We choose our route depending on the weather conditions; it will lead us right into the nature reserve Schönecker Schweiz.

At the very beginning, we hike down into the valley of the Altburgbach. Orchard meadows and the slender silhouettes of juniper bushes accompany us. Then we climb the ridge "Op Ischt" and enjoy the wide views on the plateau. Later, we immerse ourselves in the beech forest and arrive at a hidden clearing where we take our first break. Above the Schalkenbach, we continue through the forest on narrow paths.

Finally, we reach the ancient Celtic refuge, which towers above the Altburgbach on steep rocks. Here, we take another short rest and have plenty of time to photograph ourselves with the llamas. Then we must descend again into the valley via a narrow path from the rock spur. Following the Altburgbach, we reach our starting point again after about four hours. Here we must say goodbye to our fluffy companions, the llamas and alpacas, after about four hours.

Included: approximately four-hour llama and alpaca hike with breaks
German and English speaking hiking guide
one animal per alpaca/llama guide
a maximum of one accompanying person can be added per llama/alpaca guide

What to bring: Hiking shoes with solid, non-slip soles, daypack, water bottle, warm, weatherproof clothing, headgear (depending on the season for sun, rain, or cold)

Participants: at least 4 people; maximum of about 14 people

Requirements: Average physical condition required (total distance up to 8 km, elevation difference 110 m), minimum age for leading an animal: 10 years. Participation under 18 years only in the company of an adult. Dogs unfortunately cannot be brought along.
