Hike

Our alpacas and llamas graze just below Schönecken Castle on a traditional orchard meadow. There, we get to know the animals in a relaxed manner and make our first leading attempts in the pasture. Then our hiking adventure in the nature reserve "Schönecker Schweiz" begins!

Right at the beginning, we hike down into the valley of the Altburgbach. Traditional orchards and the slender silhouettes of juniper bushes accompany us. We follow the Altburgbach, whose bed winds through the forest in countless bends. Finally, we reach a narrow bridge. Will the alpacas and llamas manage to walk down the stairs to the bridge? Will they cross the bridge? Here, you can prove that you have already become good Llameros and Llameras! This is what we call llama guides in the South American Andes!

Now, a steep ascent awaits us: A narrow path winds up the slope. It leads us to a hidden ancient refuge that towers above the Altburgbach on steep rocks. Here, centuries ago, Celts hid when it became too dangerous outside in the open plains. We take a break here for a while. Those who wish can explore the rocks. Surely, we will have ample time to take pictures with the alpacas and llamas. Then we hike back through the fields towards Schönecken and almost at the end of our tour, we arrive at the old castle of Schönecken. 
Back at the pasture, we must say goodbye to our faithful companions, the alpacas and llamas.

Included: approximately two-hour llama and alpaca hike with breaks
German and English speaking hiking guide
one animal per alpaca or llama guide
max one companion per alpaca or llama guide

What to bring: Hiking shoes with firm, non-slip soles, day backpack, water bottle, rainproof clothing, headgear (depending on the season for sun, rain, or cold; please no umbrellas)

Participants: at least 4 people; maximum about 14 people

Requirements: Average fitness required (total distance about 8 km, elevation change 110 m), at least one of the jointly booked persons must be younger than 18 years old; it is a family hike. Minimum age for leading an animal: 10 years. Participation under 18 years only in the company of an adult. Unfortunately, dogs cannot be brought along.
