On the approximately 4 km long and about 2.5-hour walk, we will visit Schönstein Castle, first mentioned in a document in 1255, with its castle chapel from the year 1622.
We dive into the history of life in the castle, of counts, saints, farmers, and reformers. Another highlight is the Heisterkapelle of the St. Sebastianus Shooting Brotherhood Schönstein. Built in 1714, it is one of the oldest half-timbered chapels in Rhineland-Palatinate. Customs and legends from nearly 300 years come to life.
The Heisterstraße takes us past historic villas and buildings from the 20th century. After a stroll through the city's history, our tour ends at the RegioBahnhof in Wissen.
Perfect for history enthusiasts, culture lovers, and curious walkers. Note: The Heisterkapelle and the castle chapel in Wissen-Schönstein are only accessible as part of this guided tour.
