Let's be honest: As a mother, one is always proud of her son. But Helena, crowned Augusta by Emperor Constantine, that is, herself crowned as Empress, did everything in her lifetime to actively support the reign of her son.
Much of this can still be seen today – especially when you open a few doors. In this exclusive anniversary tour, participants stroll not only along the structures created by Constantine, which are now part of the UNESCO World Heritage, but also marvel together with tour guide Rose-Marie Flick at the hidden messages of the ceiling paintings in the Museum am Dom, the cross-nail reliquary in the Trier Cathedral treasure, or the many references to Helena in the cathedral itself. It becomes clear: Behind every powerful emperor, there is sometimes an equally strong mother.
