Hardly out of the city, you are already in the middle of nature. Here, stunning views of Marburg and surprising insights into the city's history await you.
Take another look at the Elisabeth Church before the steep ascent past Michelchen leads you upwards. After one of the most beautiful views of Marburg Castle, you will find a place full of legends and stories. And then, quite unexpectedly, you will reach the former serum filling plant of the famous "Savior of Children" Emil von Behring and his mausoleum – right in the forest. Passing the spring that supplied water to the castle in the Middle Ages, you will reach the former quarries. Do you remember the impressive walls of the Elisabeth Church? Here it is! This is where the stones for the construction of the Elisabeth Church were quarried. And this is exactly where the path leads you back through the green heart of Marburg.
