In the 13th century, the builders of the Elisabeth Church utilized the latest insights from French cathedral architecture to construct one of the first purely Gothic churches in the German-speaking area in Marburg. They created a unique building, overwhelming for the people of the late Middle Ages and still impressive for us modern visitors.
