The music of the Romantic era thrives on contrasts: passion and structure, freedom and form. In the first half of the evening, Chopin's waltzes and mazurkas combine dance-like elegance with subtle patterns, while his Berceuse creates an almost transcendent atmosphere with floating variations. Liszt's "Dante Sonata" then depicts the journey through heaven and hell with dramatic soundscapes – oscillating between ecstatic ascent and bleak abyss.
After the intermission, Scriabin's music unfolds a fragile balance between light and shadow, introverted yet full of tension. The evening concludes with Rachmaninoff's Second Sonata – a powerful work full of contrasts, oscillating between urgent unrest and lyrical expansiveness, culminating in a radiant finale.
