Open the Doors with the Mouse – WDR Event Day for Children and Teens at Heuneburg

The State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Württemberg are once again participating in WDR’s nationwide “Türen auf mit der Maus” event this year. An exciting program awaits children and teens ages 7–14 at Heuneburg Castle. **Varied Activities for Children** Under the theme “Little Wonders,” children and teens will gain exciting insights into the daily life and work of the Celts on Mouse Day. During a guided discovery rally across the high plateau, children will learn everything there is to know about how the Celts lived together. There will also be a craft activity in keeping with the theme. **Guided Tours for Accompanying Adults** There are three time slots for the two-hour children’s program. The program begins at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. Registration is required to participate. A maximum of 25 children can participate per time slot. Alongside the children’s activities, accompanying adults can also explore the Heuneburg plateau on a guided tour. The tours start at staggered times relative to the children’s program: at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. The tour offers insight into the history of the Celtic settlement and provides fascinating information about the research and excavation project. Children up to age 14 have free admission on the "Maus" event day. Parents and grandparents pay the regular admission price. The accompanying guided tours for adults are included in the admission price. Refreshments are well provided for with hearty meals, coffee and cake, as well as ice cream and beverages. **Open Doors with the Mouse** For decades, the TV show *Mit der Maus* has delighted children and teenagers—even adults are drawn to the screen by the iconic mouse. On Saturday, October 3, *Mit der Maus* will be featured nationwide during a special event day organized by Westdeutscher Rundfunk: On “Open Doors with *Mit der Maus*” Day, the show gives children and teenagers insights into the adult working world and opens doors that are usually closed. Since 2011, the event has always taken place on German Unity Day, October 3. For many families, participating has already become a tradition. The focus is on exploring together, trying things out, and having fun.
