In the Footsteps of the Dukes and Kings of Württemberg: A tour of Lorch Abbey followed by a hike to the Schelmenklinge and the giant sequoias—offering fascinating insights into history, nature, and regional highlights.
The dukes and kings of Württemberg left their mark on the Stauferland region—whether as patrons of Lorch Abbey or during its dissolution. On this tour, guests first explore the abbey grounds and then embark on a hike lasting about an hour.
The trail leads them past the Schelmenklinge water features to the giant sequoias above Lorch. Along the way, they learn more about the princes’ connection to the monastery and the region. They also uncover the secrets behind the Luther oak in the monastery grounds, the many Staufer steles in the region, and the Wilhelma seed.
