Experience history up close at the Ockenheim Local Museum – on May 17th, entirely dedicated to International Museum Day!
Immerse yourself in the life of bygone eras and discover a fascinating exhibition about life around 1900 and 1950. Be inspired by unique exhibits – and the special thing: In the cabinets and drawers of the exhibition rooms, you can explore for yourself what people used to keep in their households.
On the occasion of International Museum Day, you can expect the full range of our museum: Experience historical technology, discover old professions, and take a look into nostalgic children's rooms. The playroom with the over 100-year-old tin train also invites awe.
Special highlights are our current special exhibitions: "Wanderlust of the 60s" takes you with the cheeky title “Liverwurst Sandwich on the Beach of Rimini” into the vacation and everyday culture of this eventful time. The exhibition “Snapped? – By No Means!” shows, under the motto “Old Lamps in a New Light”, how historical lights uniquely connect history, technology, and design.
Museum Day offers the ideal opportunity to experience culture and local history, discover new things, and engage in conversation – internationally inspired and locally rooted.
Admission is free – we greatly appreciate any voluntary donation.
The museum is open from 2 PM to 5 PM.
