On June 20, we celebrate not only the official start of summer, but also Midsummer—arguably the most magical festival in the North! In Sweden, the summer solstice is celebrated in style with music, dancing, and flower wreaths. We’re bringing this unique atmosphere to the Maschinenfabrik and inviting you to an afternoon where we’ll celebrate the start of the summer months together! We’re bringing this unique atmosphere to the Maschinenfabrik and inviting you to an afternoon where we’ll celebrate the start of the summer months together! What to expect: **2 CONCERTS (starting at 4:30 p.m.)** The folk duo AKLEJA musically explores what is close to their hearts: nature, encounters, and touching moments. Inspired by Swedish dance music and old sheet music, the two develop a vibrant folk language—using only the nyckelharpa, guitar, and cittern. The fantastic singer-songwriter NIKA JONSSON will enchant you with a mix of pop and jazz, inspired by Nordic folklore. Her songs—in German, Swedish, and English—tell of trolls, elves, aliens, and humans, and transport you to a world full of magic. **FLOWER WREATH MAKING (starting at 3:30 PM)** What would Midsummer be without flower wreaths? In our little workshop, you can make your own beautiful Midsummer wreath from fresh cut and wildflowers. We have everything you need on site—just bring your creativity! **SWEDISH DELICACIES** Of course, culinary highlights are a must: In addition to classic cinnamon buns, other Nordic delicacies await you. These will be accompanied by tasty summer drinks.
