In 1917, the Russian Revolution overthrows the Romanov royal family and all its members are murdered. Yet one legend persists: Is Anastasia, the tsar’s youngest daughter, still alive? The musical ANASTASIA tells the gripping story of Anja, a young woman with no past: As a teenager, she wakes up on the side of a road with nothing but vague fragments of memory and an unshakable desire: she wants to find out who she really is. On her journey, Anja meets the hardened Dimitri and his charming ally Vlad. Together, the two plan to find the missing Tsar’s daughter Anastasia—or a young woman they can pass off as Anastasia. Anja is to travel with them to France, where Dimitri and Vlad hope to find freedom and money. For the fugitive Tsar’s mother promises a reward to whoever brings her granddaughter Anastasia to her in Paris.
