Dorf- und Bergbaugeschichte in Philippstein

It starts at 2:00 PM, meeting point is the "Festplatz" in Philippstein. This can be reached via the main road, taking the first left turn into the village coming from Braunfels.

With the beginning of industrialization, iron ore mining began in the area around Philippstein. In the following years, seven more iron ore mines were established. Philippstein became a mining village with up to 400 miners. The last two mines were closed in 1962. Today, a monument commemorates the mining tradition in the village. Following in the footsteps of witnesses, the city guide will walk with you through the district of Braunfels-Philippstein to experience the charm of this little village by the Möttbach.

The participation fee for a tour is €5.00 per person. Pre-registration is requested.
