Without freedom, everything is nothing.
Absinto Orkestra plays music of freedom. For 20 years, the band has combined virtuosity with joy of playing and improvisation – beyond borders, styles, and languages.
The musical journey takes you through Balkan, Mediterranean, and Eastern European sound worlds, with detours into jazz, klezmer, and gypsy. The original meets the borrowed, danceable meets experimental, tradition meets the present.
Unusual time signatures, open forms, and multilingual lyrics are just as much a part of it as emotional contrasts: melancholy and intoxication, wit and longing, love and transience.
Sometimes gypsy, often danceable, always in the here and now – Absinto Orkestra stands for freedom that can be heard and felt.
