A Special Connection
“There is a mood in it that you don't often find in Brahms! What wonderful melodies are to be found! It is all love, and it opens your heart.” With these touching words, Antonín Dvořák honored the third symphony of his friend Johannes Brahms. Particularly appreciated for its colorful orchestration and the unmistakably lyrical third movement, it was composed in 1883 in the city where it will be performed at the Rheingau Music Festival 2026: Wiesbaden. Not only the close connection between the history of its creation and the performance location makes this concert evening such a special moment – this evening also marks the continuation of the Brahms cycle that began last season and is planned over two years. Together with the young and currently storming the international stages exceptional pianist Lukas Sternath, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Jakub Hrůša will shape this next musical chapter around Brahms' outstanding oeuvre.
