Hazmat Modine blends blues with global influences and the distinctive New Orleans marching band sound.
The group led by Wade Schumann features a diverse lineup that includes guitar, harmonica, sousaphone, saxophone, trumpet, violin, and percussion. New to the band are violin virtuoso Daisy Castro, drummer Varun Das, and sousaphone player Kenneth Bentley Jr. The tour and the album 2026 are dedicated to the late sousaphone player Josef Daley.
The band’s distinctive sound is often described as a blend of Tom Waits, Kurt Weill, and a New Orleans marching band—energetic, unique, and captivating from the very start.
