Triftfest 2026

In the Trifelsland, the craft of drifting comes to life once a year. At the Trift Festival on June 28, 2026 (10 am to 5 pm) , visitors can participate, watch, and experience the vital connection to the forest up close.

The foresters vividly demonstrate what forestry work looked like over 100 years ago. The tour initially follows the Triftweg towards Woog. On site, it is shown how wood was processed in the past and transported down the slope to the water using a wooden sledge. It is then brought into the Triftkanal and drifted down the stream with the help of the stored water. Participation is explicitly welcomed in all activities!

The festival site is located in the middle of the Palatinate Forest near the B48 between Annweiler am Trifels/Rinnthal and Johanniskreuz/Kaiserslautern. There is an information booth as well as food and drinks available.
Throughout the year, visitors can hike the drifting facilities along the Triftweg or explore them by mountain bike on Tour 11. Signs provide information about drifting and the Wooge in the Palatinate Forest.

Directions
ARRIVAL BY CAR Take the B10 Landau-Pirmasens to the B48 towards Kaiserslautern, after a few kilometers turn left towards Annweiler Forsthaus to a parking lot. From Kaiserslautern, drive from Johanniskreuz towards Annweiler am Trifels, and turn right at the signage for Annweiler Forsthaus into the parking lot. A short walk follows to the festival site.

ON FOOT OR BY BIKE From Rinnthal, one can also hike to the drifting facility or ride there by bicycle (distance from the train station/town center about 6 km, hiking time approximately 1.5 hours). Follow the Triftweg. The starting point is the information panel in the town center opposite the church.
