Hiking Day: Following the Danube Wave

To celebrate the nationwide **“Hiking Day”**, the Donaubergland region and the [Municipality of Immendingen](https://www.immendingen.de/) invite you to a guided hike titled “In the Footsteps of the DonauWelle” on **Sunday, May 17 at 1:00 p.m.** The approximately three-hour, family-friendly hike starts at the “Hauser” country inn in Immendingen-Hattingen and takes you through the impressive landscape above the Danube’s disappearance point. Together with tour guide Uli Eschle, you’ll discover a diverse section of the “Danube Disappearance” premium hiking trail and gain fascinating insights into the region’s nature and culture. Time and again, magnificent views open up, inviting you to linger and enjoy the moment. A special highlight and destination of the tour is the [Höwenegg](https://www.donaubergland.de/ausflugsziele-details/vulkan-hoewenegg-aussichtspunkt/) with its unique volcanic landscape, mysterious lake, and extraordinary flora. Every year, thousands of people across Germany participate in around 350 activities—ranging from family hikes to themed guided tours. All participants will receive a pin featuring the German Hiking Association’s logo as well as a booklet of vouchers. The official event day is May 14 (Ascension Day), and the nationwide event period runs from May 14 to May 17.
