Beetles are the most species-rich group of animals on Earth. In Central Europe alone, there are thousands of different species – from large, metallic-shimmering ground beetles that hunt at night to the inconspicuous weevils that nibble on their favorite plants. Some species sport camouflage colors, while others thrive better with warning colors. Many of them go unnoticed in our everyday lives, even though they surround us directly. However, once you learn how they live and pay attention to the small differences in shape, color, or behavior, a walk becomes an expedition of discovery.
