Relaxed and soulful

It is the quiet, penetrating tones that resonate effortlessly and intensely in English and Portuguese – along with Caro Trischler’s unique voice, which is hard to forget.

The newly crowned winner of the Worms Jazz Award coolly intertwines the folk of Joni Mitchell with the subtlety of Brazilian music and the gentleness of pop ballads. At her performance with her trio in the "KulturGießerei", you too can fall in love with her music.

During her jazz singing studies, the Mainzer discovered the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Elis Regina, and João Gilberto. "I simply had to dedicate myself to this Brazilian music of the 60s and 70s in all its sadness and joy of life!" Not only that: she is also engaged with the Portuguese language and released her first album “North e Sul” in 2020 with selected favorites from North and South America. For the recently released second album – which is also the program of our concert evening in Saarburg – Caro Trischler wrote her own songs with her long-time musical partner, jazz pianist Ulf Kleiner. The trio is completed by Max Jentzen on drums, who, like Ulf Kleiner on Fender Rhodes piano, is also a sought-after sideman. They remain true to their very personal genre mix with elements from jazz, Latin, folk, blues, pop, and singer-songwriter tradition, as well as to their own signature. "A mesmerizing voice, a soulful jazzy piano, and a finely grooving drum," wrote Volker Rebell, presenting "sensitive, intelligent music that is relaxed and soulful."
