When Käthe and Karl-Eugen take the stage, it’s a state of emergency in Swabia! In their new show “Firlefanz!”, the two Swabians take aim at modern life and serve it up with wordplay, irony, and a delightful dose of chaos. Wrinkles, AI, and self-driving lawnmowers. Right in the thick of it: the Kächeles.
When Käthe and Karl-Eugen take the stage, the daily grind is over—then
it’s a state of emergency in Swabia! In their new show “Firlefanz!”
the two Swabians take aim at modern life and serve it up with
a healthy dose of wordplay, irony, and a delightful amount of chaos.
Whether it’s artificial intelligence, which might even be a tiny bit smarter
than Karl-Eugen, or relationship problems that would make even seasoned couples therapists
throw in the towel—the Kächeles leave no stone unturned when it comes to the
madness of everyday married life. The new digital age collides with entrenched
bureaucracy, Käthe mutates into a Swabian Alexa and steers Karl-Eugen from
one marital crisis into the next. And when the duo then tries to
work their way through a piece of world literature, even good old Schiller would
smile in amazement from his grave.
As always, Käthe knows everything—immediately, emphatically, and without pause. Karl-Eugen,
of course, too. Well, theoretically. Someday. Maybe. Under certain
circumstances. While she analyzes, philosophizes, and comments, he relies on
his tried-and-true mix of excuses, whimsical ideas, and quiet despair.
The chemistry between the two? Highly explosive. The punchlines? Placed with precision
and set off at the perfect moment.
An evening with the Kächeles means comedy with pace, depth, and Swabian
wit. Sparks fly in their marriage, while parking, and in front of the fridge
— and in the end, everything is as usual: the Kächeles keep arguing. And the
audience loves them for it.
