**Fire and Gregorian Chant** **Saturday, June 20, 2026** Starting at 8:00 p.m. St. John’s Fire (Lighting at approx. 8:45 p.m.) 10:00 p.m. Gregorian Choir **Romanesque Pilgrimage Church in Schienen Free admission ** Saturday evening of the Höri Midsummer Nights begins under the open sky. As twilight falls over the Höri, the St. John’s Fire is lit on the meadow in front of the Schienen Monastery Church by the men and women of the Schienen Fire Department. The fire forms the warm focal point of this summer night. As darkness falls, the deep bell of the monastery church rings at 10:00 p.m. It marks the transition from the fire to the church interior. An illuminated path leads visitors from the meadow into the church. Inside, an artistic spatial installation unfolds, blending light, architecture, and sound. Starting at 10 p.m., the Schola Gregoriana Ratisbonensis, conducted by Christoph Hönerlage, fills the church with thousand-year-old Gregorian chants. The voices blend with a shifting atmosphere of light that reveals the church’s architecture anew time and again. The entire evening unfolds without a spoken word. After the singing, the choir slowly steps back, and the space returns to the quiet scene of light—a summer night between fire, silence, and sound, allowed to fade away at its own pace.
