Guided Tour of the Main Cemetery in Trier
In its original meaning, the term "cemetery" referred to the enclosed area around a church. A place with its own atmosphere, a different rhythm, and a special, emotionally charged significance for individuals as well as for families or the entire community.
The Main Cemetery in Trier is also such a special place. Behind its walls lie not only the final resting places of many prominent figures from Trier and cultural-historical treasures spanning over 200 years, but also a tranquil oasis for the living. The more than 10,000 graves and 1,400 trees are surrounded by a primeval landscape park that can be explored on a roughly six-kilometer path network.
