She needed a change of scenery, wanted to have a Sunday on a Monday, and was too tired to go to sleep. Although she didn’t believe she would ever become a lady, she dreamed of the Bal Paré. And even if things went downhill from there, it was still beautiful—because that’s just how life is! Elke Wollmann and Béatrice Kahl, who so wonderfully tell songs and stories of strong, contradictory, vulnerable, great female artists, dedicate their third song recital to the famous “sinner” who didn’t look a gift horse in the mouth: HILDEGARD KNEF. Germany’s last great diva was an actress, singer, writer, and painter. A woman of the century! Elke Wollmann, also an actress and singer, delves into Knef’s life, reading texts, singing, and recounting stories from her life. Emotional, haunting, and passionate! Together with jazz pianist Béatrice Kahl, they create entirely new, personal interpretations of Knef’s songs that touch the audience in a very special way. The Wollmann/Kahl duo embarks on a journey of discovery and, in their new program “Tapetenwechsel,” paints a musical portrait of a modern woman for whom it should truly rain red roses!
