Weinbergswanderung "Höllenpfad"

The 21st edition has no obstacles: Annually since 2004, the Grünstadt-Sausenheim-Burgenland farmers' and winemakers' association, in collaboration with the city of Grünstadt, hosts the renowned and popular vineyard hike “Höllenpfad” on the first weekend of June. Named after the eponymous large wine-growing area, the Höllenpfad becomes the focus for hiking, wine, and nature enthusiasts for two days in the Grünstadt mountain area. This time, eight winemaker families invite guests to this traditional event on June 6 and 7 and expect numerous visitors from near and far.

The hiking route, approximately 5.5 kilometers long, leads through the individual vineyards “Bergel” and “Röth” (Grünstadt) as well as “Hütt” and “Honigsack” (Sausenheim) and offers breathtaking views and panoramic vistas over the Palatinate sea of vines. Along this circular route, the participating wineries will provide wine tastings, culinary delights, and regional specialties. There will definitely be something for everyone's taste, whether it’s Palatinate steam dumplings, flammkuchen, strawberry cups, spit roast, Riesling ham, asparagus salad, or pork cheeks in Dornfelder with baked potatoes; there will also be garlic meat with garlic sauce, Höllenpfadtasche with Riesling cut-up meat, grilled salmon, mushroom pan, saumagen, herb chicken, various burgers, and of course, there will also be coffee and cake, to name just a few selections from the abundant menu.

Anyone purchasing a wine tasting card along with a souvenir glass (available at each stand for 22 euros) can try a wine of their choice at each station – a great way to discover individual taste preferences. Once the card is fully stamped, filled out with address details, and submitted at one of the stations by 6 p.m. at the latest, there will be many lucrative prizes in the following raffle as a special attraction. Of course, one can also participate without a wine tasting card and enjoy the fine drops.
