To get in the mood for the wine festival, the Sausenheim festival committee invites everyone on Thursday, September 17 starting at 5 p.m. to join in for a communal evening meal at the “Long Table” on the festival square. Guests should bring their own meal, while drinks will be served - the group will then eat and drink together in a cozy setting before the festival is traditionally “dug up” at 9:30 p.m.
The official opening will take place on Friday, September 18. At 4:30 p.m., Mayor Mimmo Scarmato and festival committee chairpersons Zora Hauch and Malte Reichenecker, together with the reigning 75th Wine Queen of the Leiningerland, Lotte I. from Sausenheim, will ceremoniously open the Sausenheim festival 2026. The farm tour will begin at 7 p.m., where all the farms will be visited and the festival will be traditionally “screamed” in good old fashion. For those who prefer to stay on the festival square: from 8 p.m. the Pfälzer cover band “FlowControl” will warm up the atmosphere.
