Fortunately—because he has been passionate about it for a good 17 years now. He feels at home in genres ranging from jazz to ska and has made a name for himself primarily with the Konstanz-based Balkan band Contrast Orange, as well as through numerous street music sessions and jazz jam sessions. Oliver Mechnich discovered his love for jazz at age 16 and has since spent decades performing in various jazz, fusion, and jazz-rock groups—from combos to big bands—in Munich, Mannheim, Heidelberg, and Konstanz. Together with Uwe John, Christian Graffelder, and Uwe Sczech, he organizes the “5vor8te” Jazzlive concert series in Konstanz. Markus Brockhaus started out in the school band at age 16 and went on to play in all kinds of bands and projects. First rock and pop, then in various soul and funk bands, eventually moving on to piano trios/quartets and big bands. He enjoys playing the acoustic double bass just as much as the electric bass. Florian Häußler felt at home in the world of music even as a child. He began taking drum lessons at age 6 and, as a teenager, played in many bands and ensembles, ranging from big bands to concert orchestras and musicals. His great passions are jazz, soul, and funk. He also studied jazz drums for several years. His playing is very varied and entertaining, yet never intrusive.
