A festive opening steeped in tradition. On Pentecost Saturday at 6 p.m., Mayor Frank Werner, together with the herald, will open the festival in front of the Sonnenberghalle. Accompanied by the Mühlhausen fanfare band and to the loud applause of the guests, the weekend begins traditionally with the symbolic tapping of the keg—a moment guaranteed to give you goosebumps and officially kick off the festival. Whether savory or sweet, classic or creative—vegetarian and gluten-free options are, of course, available once again. Saturday evening reaches its spectacular climax with a grand fireworks display that transforms the sky above Angelbachtal into a sparkling sea of colors. Sunday: When the castle park begins to glow. As early as the morning, hundreds of volunteers are at work throughout the park, measuring out and placing the imaginative tea-light ornaments—consisting of 50,000 tea lights. In the evening, a sea of lights awaits you, bathing the moated castle and park in a unique atmosphere—a sight that will remain in your memory for a long time. The popular “Rainbow Alley” with its floating light installations once again invites visitors to marvel and take photos. The colorfully illuminated castle bridge is atmospherically reflected in the water, while our bubble artist lets his giant, shimmering bubbles dance over the candles—a magical moment for children and adults alike. The “Fog-Bubbles”—introduced last year—are a spectacular show feature guaranteed to elicit looks of wonder. The music and laser show at the moated castle has long been a crowd favorite: colored lasers trace impressive figures in the night sky to the accompaniment of classical and modern music. The castle park lighting will be kicked off by the bagpipe group “Heidelberg & District Pipes and Drums,” before the band “James Torto & Friends” takes over the castle park stage with a rousing concert. The highlight of the evening: a live performance by Rachel Leggio (known as a contestant on “The Voice of Germany” in 2025). At the balloon show in the castle park, the mini-themed balloons seem to dance to the beat of the music—a fascinating spectacle of light, movement, and sound. NEW Children’s Attraction 2026: Pilot’s License for Teddy & Co.—The Stuffed Animal Event in Angelbachtal! On May 24, 2026, things will take off: As part of the Balloon Show by the Friesenheim Balloon Team, your favorite companions will take flight! On our stuffed animal balloon rides, plush toys become real adventurers. Here’s how the adventure goes: 1. Boarding: Place your stuffed animal in the real balloon basket yourself. 2. Photo op: Big smiles, please! Your parents will take a souvenir photo of you and your brave co-pilot right by the basket. 3. Certificate: As proof of their bravery, every child will receive an official balloonist certificate for their stuffed animal. Come on by, enjoy the music, and make the day unforgettable for your little ones (and their stuffed animal friends)! NEW IN 2026: The castle pond takes center stage This year, the castle pond will be showcased even more impressively and integrated more deeply into the overall experience. New lighting accents on and around the water create fascinating reflections and open up entirely new perspectives on the moated castle and the park scenery. Look forward to additional displays right by and on the water, transforming the pond into a luminous stage—romantic, atmospheric, and unique. This is where special moments unfold, inviting you to linger, take photos, and enjoy the moment. On Whit Monday, the castle pond itself finally becomes a venue for sporting activities: During the rowboat race and surfboard paddling competition, dedicated participants and enthusiastic spectators ensure a lively and cheerful conclusion to the official program. Afterward, you can relax and wind down the holiday at the stands and in the club tents. Art and Culture at the Moated Castle From Saturday through Monday, a fascinating photo exhibition by Angelbachtal artist Dr. Peter Quick and the Waldangelloch couple Renate and Robert Müller awaits you at the moated castle. Impressive works under the title “Moments” will be on display here from May 23–31. Trade Fair in the Village Center. Starting Sunday, a diverse trade fair will be held in the village center, impressively showcasing the variety and capabilities of Angelbachtal’s businesses. Be there!
