Ausstellung: "Die bunten Zwanziger - Zwischen Euphorie und Erschöpfung"

At the invitation of the Kunstverein Landau, from May 16 to July 12, 2026
four established artists will present their works in the Villa Streccius. “The Colorful Twenties -
Between Euphoria and Exhaustion” will be opened by Rainer
Steve Kaufmann on May 15, 2026, at 7 p.m.
Another event within the exhibition is the now increasingly popular Kunst.Nach(t).Landau, which will take place again on May 29, 2026.

On the occasion of the Rheinland-Palatinate Cultural Summer under the motto “The Golden Twenties”
the Landau Art Association has invited four artists with different
forms of expression to the Villa. The exhibition titled “The Colorful
Twenties - Between Euphoria and Exhaustion” moves within the
dialogical tension between the 1920s and the present 2020s,
focusing on young adults.
It deals with the artistic engagement with societal
changes, a diverse self-image, and the various technical and
media forms of expression in the course of time. The exhibition connects past
and present: The creative, rebellious, and contradictory 1920s meet
the voices of young people in the present 2020s with their societal,
digital, and political challenges. The question of the parallels and the
differences between the two decades, which are 100 years apart, arises
inevitably. What forms of expression and techniques come together in this
exhibition?

Lea Dencker, born in 1998 in Troisdorf, lives, works, and studies in Landau in the Palatinate.
She dedicates herself in her works to the aesthetics and technique of early photography and the
cinematic light direction.
Hetty Hollm, born in 1996 in Berlin, lives and works in Mainz. In her oversized
inkjet prints, she addresses the technology of AI-based software and the socio-emotional
aspect of the individual in this context. In her oversized screen prints on
paper rolls, she juxtaposes elements of traditional craftsmanship, serial reproduction, and
digital editing.
Joël Müller, born in 1998 in Mainz, also lives, works, and studies in Mainz. His
textile works focus on a queer perspective of church structures and
on the pop culture of the last decades. In his spatial installations, he deals with the
attempt to cling to memories and the often unavoidable process
of fading and losing his memories.
Elpida Christina Tsaousidis, born in 1993 in Dieburg, also lives, studies, and works
in Mainz. Her works address the theme of transgenerational
trauma. How are collective and individual experiences of loss, fear, crises
and the feeling of adaptation or the need for new beginnings transmitted across generations? Her artistic forms of expression range from
spatial installations, through performance art to film and photographic
works.

Vernissage of the exhibition The Colorful Twenties - Between Euphoria and
Exhaustion is on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 7 p.m.
The exhibition will be opened by the 1st chairwoman of the art association Dr. Monica Jager-Schlichter, Miriam Erb, the head of the cultural office of Landau will give a welcoming speech, and the curator and Rainer Steve Kaufmann, academic senior advisor from the Institute for Art Science and Fine Arts
of the RPTU Landau will introduce the exhibition.
The opening will be musically accompanied by the accordion duo Katrin Meyer and Karin Füssel.

With art through the night, the exhibition will be part of the event
Kunst.Nach(t).Landau on Friday, May 29, 2026. On this evening,
Landau's galleries and art institutions will open their doors for the fourth time together from 5 p.m. to 11
p.m.
In the Villa, there will be a guided tour with the
artist Lea Dencker at 6:15 p.m. and 9:15 p.m. The KUK will also be open on this evening.
