From the Threepenny Opera in Babylon Berlin to the Broadway
musical: Songs, arias, chansons by Kurt Weill. The famous song writer, Brecht's composer, and musical composer (1900-1950) has another treasure chest under his New York and Berlin beds. And who should sing his songs, (besides Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Nick Cave, Elvis Costello, and The Doors) if not the 1st prize winner of the Lotte-Lenya-Award from the Kurt Weill Foundation NY? “Here comes the shark… Weill!” are pieces from the Golden 20s to the 50s, cheekily spiced up by the three stage professionals with a lot of wit, rhythm, and swing. Annette Postel sings and leads through Weill's life. Sebastian Matz accompanies on piano, Pirmin Ullrich on saxophones and clarinets. “Kurt Weill wrote songs that demand enormous acting ability on stage and require the highest vocal art. Annette Postel has both! With incredible speed and agility, she is able to switch between parody, irony, pain, and humorous frivolity. Stylistically confident,
overwhelmingly comedic, fluctuating between diva and cabaret artist.” Badische Neueste Nachrichten
“Here, Weill has truly found a congenial interpreter.” Mannheimer Morgen
