The German-French-Polish band creates its own style from global music and vocal jazz and
proves that handmade, acoustic music can be not only intricate, contemplative, and rich in color, but
even without drums can be highly energetic and powerful. The multilingual French singer Marion
Lenfant-Preus and the Polish guitarist Alexander "Sobo" Sobocinski have been following the
idea of creating music without categories and for a cross-generational and cross-cultural audience for over 13 years. And they
do this with a lot of charm, humor, lightness, and joyful play! The well-traveled musicians and their band now present
their third studio album: "Gomera," dedicated to the landscape and culturally diverse Canary Island, where the two have spent many winters and collected many song ideas. MARION & SOBO BAND sounds
stylistically colorful with songs in French, Spanish, English, German, and Romani, with acrobatic solos on the
guitar, on the violin, with scat singing, original compositions, and also new interpretations of old
classics that the band "transforms into the here and now" (Jazzpodium).
Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung
“Bringing the sound of Django Reinhardt into the 21st century, Marion & Sobo Band achieves this on their third album
‘Gomera’ almost incidentally. While the famous Gypsy Swing is their foundation, one never gets the idea of listening to music from the
past here.”
