Opening of the Giant Earthworm Trail

Following the redesign of the "Giant Earthworm Trail" children's trail at Hohtann, this new highlight for children and adults will be officially opened. That afternoon, families with children will have the opportunity to walk the redesigned Giant Earthworm Trail for the first time. In addition, there will be hands-on activities, and the opening will be accompanied by music and food. The Hohtann is located between the Wiedener Eck and the Belchen. An interactive adventure trail specifically for families and children has been created at the Hohtann-Belchen Cross-Country Ski Center. Starting from the parking lot of the Cross-Country Ski Center, the trail is marked as a loop approximately 1.5 km long. The name "Giant Earthworm... Trail Belchen" is a reference to the Baden Giant Earthworm, which serves as the main protagonist. The aging Giant Earthworm... Trail in a neighboring forest area was completely dismantled as part of the project and replaced by the new, modernly designed adventure trail. The new route follows existing paths, forest trails, and cross-country ski trails throughout. Families and children are accompanied by the giant earthworm “Rolf-Rosemarie” along the entire trail, and he comes to life at six interactive stations. Rolf-Rosemarie’s story creates an active connection to the surrounding nature and makes it tangible. A key focus is on the theme of water and its importance for the cycle of life. “Belchi,” the mascot of the Belchen region in the Black Forest, appears as an ally of the giant earthworm. A central and recurring element are marble runs along the path. Here, children can let their playful instincts run wild and experience fun and joy. Play stations that promote imagination and motor skills complement the range of activities, including a family scavenger hunt along the route or a wildlife trail where various native animal species can be discovered.
