Te Deum - Festival Concert

**Gala Concert Celebrating the 400th Anniversary of the Assumption Church Choir of Tiengen** with an ad hoc orchestra, Assumption Church Choir DoReMi Youth Choir **_Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy:_** Overture to the oratorio “Paulus” Oratorio excerpt “Christus” “Hör mein Bitten” **_Carl Martin Reinthaler_**: “Te Deum” _(first performance since 1863)_ On the eve of the Feast of Christ the King and St. Cecilia’s Day, the anniversary year will come to a festive and crowning conclusion with a gala concert followed by a celebratory ceremony. The program for this concert features works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, including the unfinished oratorio “**Christus**.” This work establishes the connection to the Feast of Christ the King. The highlight of the concert is the “**German Te Deum**” by Carl Martin Reinthaler, a close friend of Johannes Brahms. Stylistically, the work clearly follows in Mendelssohn’s tradition. It premiered in 1863 at Bremen Cathedral. The anniversary year, themed **Te Deum: 400 Years of Choral Singing in Tiengen**, will be solemnly concluded with the performance of this “**Te Deum**.”
