On the 459 m high Roßrück, the Palatine World Axis was inaugurated in 1964. Originally, the Bavarian administration placed a landmark on a small rocky ledge here to precisely survey the surrounding area. Quite ordinary, one might think – but Paul Münch transformed it into the axis of the world in his poem.
To this day, the world axis is "smeared and fixed so that nothing happens" during a festive ceremony every year – a tradition that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the living history and dialect of the region.
Experience this hike, feel the tranquility of the forest, and discover the Palatine World Axis – a place full of history, tradition, and poetic charm.
