Now 60 years old, Pippo Pollina feels the need to celebrate this milestone in his own way with a solo concert in an intimate setting: live music at the Fischbach train station on Lake Constance.
Pippo Pollina, the versatile Sicilian musician, has been active for more than thirty years as one of the most creative artists on the European singer-songwriter scene. Countless album releases, international tours, and prestigious collaborations have earned him a special status, which he has built through consistency and dedication both in the studio and live on stage. Pippo Pollina – Solo in Concerto 40 Years of Music Without Borders Pippo Pollina, the versatile Sicilian musician, has been active for more than thirty years as one of the most creative artists on the European singer-songwriter scene. Countless album releases, international tours, and prestigious collaborations have earned him a special status, which he has built through consistency and dedication both in the studio and live on stage. Now 60 years old, Pippo Pollina feels the need to celebrate this milestone in his own way with a solo concert in an intimate setting: alone on stage, accompanied only by his guitar or seated at the piano, with his expressive voice, which has gained even more intensity with increasing maturity. The program “Solo in concerto” represents a kind of retrospective of songs, stories, and films from a truly extraordinary career. From Pollina’s debut in Sicily with the folk music of Agricantus to his anti-Mafia activism as a journalist in the then-emerging movement against the Cosa Nostra in Palermo. From his departure from his homeland Italy on an aimless world tour, through busking and his first concerts, to the many artistic encounters that changed his life and also led to several international musical collaborations: with the Swiss Linard Bardill, Patent Ochsner, and EndoAnaconda by Stiller Has; with the German singer-songwriters Konstantin Wecker, Schmidbauer & Kälberer. Collaborations with legendary Italian musicians such as Franco Battiato, Giorgio Conte, Etta Scollo, Nada, Davide Van Desfroos, and Eugenio Finardi; with French chansonnier Georges Moustaki; with Norwegian jazz singer Rebekka Bakken; as well as with the Chilean group Inti-Illimani and many more.
