The Celts in Baden-Württemberg – Lecture, Book Presentation, and Book Signing

On Sunday, May 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., Heuneburg – City of Pyrene invites you to the manor house for a lecture, book presentation, and book signing with Prof. Dr. Dirk Krausse of the State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments. The event will focus on the presentation of the new standard work: The Celts in Baden-Württemberg. 2 The book brings together the most important current findings on the history and archaeology of the Celts in southwestern Germany—from the early city-like centers of power in the 6th and 5th centuries BCE, through the period of Celtic migrations, to the heyday of the oppida civilization in the 2nd and 1st centuries BCE. The publication impressively demonstrates how sophisticated and capable Celtic societies were before Germanic migrations and Roman expansion brought about profound changes. The latest research findings and spectacular discoveries from recent years paint a vivid picture of daily life, the economy, art, and religion. Numerous illustrations bring the archaeological discoveries to life, making the book a richly illustrated overview of Celtic history in Baden-Württemberg.
