Stage open for a Roman Baroque universe

Thomas Bonni and ensemble invite you to a chamber concert full of fine sound colors and great stories: “...per forza d’amore”.

The program features cantatas for bass, two violins, and basso continuo as well as trio sonatas – the central genres
of Baroque chamber music – by Bernardo Pasquini, Alessandro Scarlatti, Antonio Caldara, and Georg Friedrich Händel.

Music as an invitation to listen, wonder, and reflect.

The Neuss Chamber Orchestra and the church choir at St. Peter, Zülpich, under the direction of Holger Weimbs, present a program that is both festive and surprising.

With the Holberg Suite op. 40, Edvard Grieg bows to the poet Ludvig Holberg – and musically travels back to the 18th century. Inspired by Baroque dance forms such as prelude, sarabande, and rigadoon, Grieg combines historical elegance with his romantic language. The result: a work that appears “classical” yet sounds remarkably fresh – and remains one of Grieg's most popular compositions today.

Completely different, yet equally captivating: Giacomo Puccini's Messa di Gloria (1880), created as the final work of his studies in Lucca. Even here, the later opera composer shines through: expressive melodies, strong contrasts, large arcs of tension – and music that fills the traditional mass text with palpable energy. An early work that piques curiosity because Puccini's handwriting is already so clearly recognizable.
