Hanne Schiefer "From My Life" - Reading

A reading by Katja Schlonski on the life and work of Hanne Schiefer. Over the years, Johanna Schiefer (1914–2010) recorded her memories in prose and poetry: her difficult life as a war widow and farmer was reflected here, as were the numerous accounts from her time as chairwoman of the rural women’s association and a widely traveled public speaker. For the women of the region during the difficult postwar period, she was a source of encouragement and a leading figure who successfully conveyed the hope that things would improve in the war-torn country and that women could achieve a great deal together. Her children and grandchildren have compiled her texts, which are always written in a down-to-earth style. Journalist and former SWR4 editor Katja Schlonski reads selected passages from this collection.
