Café Finito – where the grieving and the loving, seriousness and wit meet.
Located in the Dorotheenstädtischer Cemetery in Berlin, alongside Germany's most talented deceased, stands Café Finito. For one year, a farewell group meets here: Iris, the writer, has lost her mother, Matthias, an insurance broker, his beloved, Lizzie after seventy years her husband, and Mira, the young doctor, her best friend.
With empathy, comfort and courage, strangers become a community. A lemur, a mulberry tree, and a nighttime celebration also connect the living and the dead.
With fine humor and vivid language, Sybil Volks weaves tales of loss, hope, and joy of life.
