In May 1772, Goethe arrived in Wetzlar. The young jurist, 22 years old, was to complete an internship at the Imperial Chamber Court, the highest German court at the time. Soon he met and fell in love with a young woman from Wetzlar, Charlotte Buff. But Charlotte was already promised to someone else. After an eventful summer, Goethe left the city in September. Two years later, he published his greatest novel success "The Sufferings of Young Werther," in which he processed his experiences in Wetzlar. The city tour follows the traces of Goethe during his stay in Wetzlar.
