The blues guitarist and singer/songwriter Ripoff Raskolnikov, who lives in Austria and Hungary, is one of the most authentic representatives of his genre. His admiration for the blues greats of the early days, such as Blind Willie McTell, Skip James, Robert Johnson, or John Lee Hooker, is not expressed through imitation. What connects him to them is rather the consistency with which he has been following his path for decades, without paying attention to fashion trends of any kind, and the power with which he understands how to explore human emotions and transform them into music. This results in intense poetic songs that often evade musical categorization. With his stage charisma, dry humor, unique approach to the blues, and his obvious fondness for ill-fitting suits, faded wilted buttonhole roses, and hats that look like they belong in a junkyard, Raskolnikov is also a musician you want to not only hear but also see. He is accompanied by Ismael Barrios and Walter Kreinz, two excellent musicians who masterfully and sensitively engage in the dialogue between word and sound, poetry and music, which has defined the magic of the blues since the times of Robert Johnson.
