So they begin couples therapy – and meet week after week in a pub across the street beforehand. Ten times in ten weeks, they try to prepare for the sessions over a drink – or to get ahead of them. They talk about progress and setbacks, lose themselves in shared memories, observe the other guests, and repeatedly engage in heated, often surprisingly humorous verbal battles. What has long been suppressed gradually comes to light: injuries, grievances, small misunderstandings, and big questions. Yet amidst accusations and irony, something that connects them keeps shining through.
